About:
Last year, the burlesque world saw a notable shift from stage to screen in order to adapt to and survive the COVID-19 pandemic. When the vaccine became available, people jumped at the chance to perform live in bars and clubs again, leaving behind the lessons learned and some previously untapped audiences. What does the future hold for virtual burlesque shows? Our panel of producers has some thoughts! (60 minute discussion with Q&A at the end, total of 90 minutes)
Frankie Fingerling(They/them)
Frankie Fingerling is an artist and producer based in Amiskwaciy waskahikan (“ah-miss-kwa-chee wah-skay-gun”), colonially known as Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Their art helps them process lived experiences and trauma as a non-binary Chinese person living in the middle of a big wheat field. With hardy Capricorn blood coursing through their veins, Frankie rewrites the story of the unassuming potato and pushes for progress even when the climate isn’t ideal. If showing you their butt is what it takes to uproot power imbalances and create space for marginalized bodies and voices, then so be it. When they’re done with you, your pants will be so starchy, they’ll stand on their own.

San Francisco Bay Area born & raised, and burlesque performer since 2013, this queer fat femme is gonna rock your world!!!
Foxie la Fleur is a burlesque performer, producer and choreographer located in Chicago, IL. But did you also know that she is a User Experience Designer? What even is that?! Essentially, she helps to design digital products in a way that leaves people feeling satisfied and accomplished instead of frustrated. While working at an office job for a tech company, she discovered that there was an actual career field for the things she always ponders about, like “Why is the ‘close’ button on this screen soooo tiny?” or “How come I have to click through so many things to get to the one thing I need?” So in 2020, she decided to dive into an immersive course for UX Design with General Assembly, where she discovered she had a passion and penchant for accessibility design. As a person who lives with different types of disabilities, Foxie empathizes with how deep and powerful an experience can be when a person encounters something in life that is not accessible – versus when something is. Foxie has worked with the SeriousFun Camps for children with serious medical conditions, and has helped artists design attractive and impactful websites. It is her mission to share this knowledge with other artists to literally make accessibility design itself more accessible.
You can follow Foxie on Instagram and Twitter. You can also follow her “muggle” Instagram and learn more at her website.
