About:

This class includes steps one and two of Jacqueline’s three-step movement program. In step one, I guide participants through how the critical language of body love and disability can increase anyone’s ability to communicate in a more positive and mutually beneficial way with their body. I use the links between chronic pain and mind-body theory, as well as my experiences in physical therapy for fifteen years, to outline potential new patterns that work through feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt and discomfort to find a healthy place where each person’s own limits are known and respected. Participants then engage in step two, which includes extended listening to their talkative body, a guided meditation that introduces micromovements, and a releasing stretching routine. We end with a brief discussion of how to pair our talkative areas with our performance strengths in order to create a routine that respects the boundaries which our bodies communicate.
