About:

In the midst of COVID-19, many performers have had to switch to a digital medium such as Twitch, Zoom, and pre-recorded numbers to continue producing art. While in some regards this is more inclusive than wheelchair-inaccessible spaces, ableism and a sense of urgency continue to promote exclusionary practices in other ways and amplify existing inequalities in the performance world. In this workshop, Alexis Lucio (also known as drag king Luke Modelo) will talk about the importance of virtual video and web accessibility (a11y), share disabled performers’ views on access and inclusivity, and share best practices all performers can do to create more accessible performances.
