About:
This 90-minute lecture-based class is a visual anthology of many popular techniques instructor Kevlar has used that can be helpful for getting out of your beautiful costumes that also work well for a wide range of abilities. As a chronically ill performer and costumer, Kevlar has been building stunning and accessible costumes and is here to share ties, hooks, clips, zipper tricks, and more to help improve your costuming techniques for one-handed removal, lower dexterity grabbing, body size fluctuation, or other options for disabilities. This is aimed at getting the creative process started and to help with costuming upgrades.
About the instructor:
Kevlar B Lightning (she/they) is a playful tease and a bold performer. The Electric Soul of Burlesque, Kevlar is a chronically ill, lightly alternative theme queen who -when possible – can be seen wiggling and rocking in bars and theaters across Chicago and the country with her blend of hard pretty burlesque.
She has 8+ years of burlesque and costuming experience, a background in industrial engineering, has taught several classes, and has mentored other burlesque dancers.
Her sparkle is handmade from her small business, Leopard Lightning.
